Section Leaders
Each section of the band has a 'leader' who is responsible for supplying
practice music to members. The leaders are as follows:
FLUTE - Sue Day
CLARINET - Melvyn Hunt
OBOE - Jill Rodgers
ALTO SAX - John Medland
TENOR SAX - Becky Martin
BRASS - Dave Whitcombe
Flute Cocktail –
Sarah Hunt
Sarah is leader of Blowzone,
playing clarinet.
She also plays flute, piccolo and
soprano saxophone and is an
accomplished pianist.
She has recently taken over as
director of Flute Cocktail and has
arranged music to add to the group's
repertoire.
Clarinet Caboodle
- Dave Lambert
Dave Lambert served in the Royal
Marines Band Service for twenty-eight
years
during which he held the post of
principle clarinet in all the major staff
bands including the Royal Yacht
Britannia. He has made numerous
television
and radio broadcasts and
studio recordings. Since leaving the
service he
has been a freelance player
for groups as diverse as the South
West
Symphonia, The Dave Hankin Big
Band and in the orchestra for shows
at the
Theatre Royal.
